They are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuition and fees deduction<\/li>\n<li>Mortgage insurance premium deduction<\/li>\n<li>Nonbusiness energy property credit<\/li>\n<li>Mortgage debt forgiveness exclusion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unless new legislation is passed to extend them, taxpayers can claim the above tax benefits for the last time on their 2016 tax return.<\/p>\n<h3>Why The Change?<\/h3>\n<p>This change is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.blockadvisors.com\/insights\/what-is-the-path-act\">PATH Act<\/a>. Passed in late 2015, the law contains dozens of tax provisions, many of which go into effect this year.\u00a0 The new, expansive law affords taxpayers the opportunity to utilize some common tax breaks.
