But it can be challenging to figure out which ones are right for you and your company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One option you might have heard about is an Express Bridge Loan (EBL). Here\u2019s what you need to know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-an-ebl\">What\u2019s an EBL?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EBL pilot program was set up in 2017 by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to help small businesses get through presidentially declared disasters with SBA loans. On March 25, 2020, the program was expanded to allow small businesses that have been adversely impacted by COVID-19 to access these loans.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.blockadvisors.com\/resource-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/small-business-loan-forms.jpg\" alt=\"man filling out a form for a small business loan\n\" class=\"wp-image-7869\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This program is a supplement to the SBA\u2019s current&nbsp;disaster loan program. But EBLs stand out in one big way: they\u2019re designed to get you the money quickly. Otherwise, it\u2019s a fairly standard SBA loan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most important things to know about the EBL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Only small businesses can apply, and you must use the loan to keep your business afloat or to reopen it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The loan is for up to $25,000, with a max loan term of seven years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must apply before March 13, 2021.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can repay it fully or partially using an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrblock.com\/tax-center\/small-business\/how-economic-injury-disaster-loans-can-help-small-businesses\/\">Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL).<\/a> Think of an EBL as an advance on an EIDL, if you decide to get that loan as well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can only have one EBL per business.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Having an EBL doesn\u2019t stop you from getting other loans from the SBA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for fees and interest rates, here\u2019s what you\u2019ll want to look out for with an EBL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The max interest rate your lender can charge is currently 9.75%. This number can change, but it will always be the prime interest rate + 6.5%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The application fee is either $250 or 2% of your loan, whichever is more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Late payment fees can\u2019t be more than 5% of what you\u2019re scheduled to pay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-do-you-qualify-for-an-sba-express-bridge-loan\">Do you qualify for an SBA Express Bridge Loan?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Already work with an SBA express lender? As long as your small business had a relationship with the lender before March 13, 2020, you can explore getting an EBL. Businesses can document a relationship with a lender using a current bank statement, existing note, or other official banking document with the business\u2019s address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, if you don\u2019t already have a banking relationship with an SBA express lender, you can\u2019t apply for an EBL. There are still plenty of other options available to you, though. Our list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrblock.com\/tax-center\/coronavirus-small-business-taxes\/\">small business tax resources for coronavirus<\/a> can suggest what else you can do to help your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-apply-for-an-sba-express-bridge-loan\">How to apply for an SBA Express Bridge Loan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As with any loan, there are some details you should know about before applying. To get approval for an Express Bridge Loan, you\u2019ll need to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have a Small Business Scoring Service (SBSS) score of at least 130 (though this number might change in the future).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit IRS Form 4506-T to the IRS to get the business\u2019s tax transcript. Then submit that transcript to the lender.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check your personal credit score for errors, as the lender will check your credit score.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet all standard SBA 7(a) loan qualifications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To apply, contact your lender to see if they\u2019re offering Express Bridge Loans, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/partners\/lenders\/microloan-program\/list-lenders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">check out this list of lenders from the SBA<\/a>.
